Garden development project in Colmar (68)
They have chosen:
Internet formula coupled with a
Screening package
Specifications :
- The couple who contacted me wanted a garden that was easier to maintain, with less physical constraints to protect their health;
- A huge vis-à-vis with a farm adjoining their land; unattractive and harmonious but not seeming to bother them at all, not paying much attention to it as the years go by.
- A garden already very well maintained on the north and south faces; the vegetable garden left aside, for lack of time and courage and with a view to doing less in the years to come. The decision was to reduce the green space (lawn) by creating flowerbeds, gravelled paths, a vegetable patch and a vegetable spiral (thus sparing their backs);
- The blackberries and hazelnuts were to be kept (they were moved, and "transformed" to maximize the reorganized space)
Choices made by Créartmonie in addition to the specifications:
- Transform the deciduous hedge into evergreens in order to operate an all-season screen. Indeed, the boundary of the land gives way to a sidewalk that is frequently used and leaves no room for real privacy. The old hedge was made up of three hazel trees but which, by their very nature, require, in addition to the obsolete appearance of the screen, very numerous and severe prunings (thus limiting the attractive aspect of the owner's choice: the formation of fruit to harvest).
- Divert the eye from this imposing farmhouse on the boundary of the land, site of the new vegetable garden. Créartmonie opted for the choice of giant bamboos (mostly of the creeping type) with the installation of rhizome barriers. The choice of species being made according to the very particular climate of the geographical area, their speed of growth; their height at adult height (the ridge of the farm stretching more than 8 metres in height); the color of the stubble, the poetic aspect of the foliage, moreover persistent and, above all, the ease of maintenance (for people who no longer have the taste or the forces!)
